Whether a student's future is in hi-tech, business, or politics, Diplomacy and International Communication in English will develop the skills needed to participate effectively across cultures in the 21st century world.

In this major (הרחבה), students will learn to work as a team, understand and use mass media and other social platforms, develop language awareness, consensus building skills, conflict management skills, and develop abilities in critical and innovative thinking. All of these skills are integrated into a course of study that emphasizes an appreciation of cultural diversity and its impact on the worlds of business and foreign relations. 

 This major is only open to students studying English at the five-point level. The elective is studied in addition to, and separate from, general English Studies. The major is studied in English because English is the language of business, science and diplomacy today. It is also the international language that offers access to understanding other cultures.

 A high school student in Israel can now choose a major that is studied in English. Students acquire advanced language proficiency while actively building their interpersonal communication skills, intercultural sensitivity, negotiation and decision making skills. They use active learning methods such as inquiry-based learning, role-play simulations, Socratic seminars, town hall meetings, guest lecturers, and international video conferences to name only few of the classroom learning experiences.  While outside the class, we go on field trips and participate in debates and model UN conferences.

In diplomacy, in the 11^th grade students study foundational and advanced communication with an emphasis on the international stage. This is taught along with conflict resolution.  For the 12^th grade, they will prepare for the bagrut communications and complete a problem based learning project.  The communications is 70% and the conflict is 30%.

מקצוע בחירה זה מכין אתכם להשתלבות בעולם של המאה העשרים ואחת. הלימודים מתמקדים ברב גוניות, אוריינות תקשורתית וידע בנושאים כלל עולמיים.  התכנית פותחה להקנות ללומדים מיומנויות הנדרשות בשוק העבודה כיום, כגון: הצגת נושאים שונים, עבודת צוות, מיומנויות חשיבה ביקרתיות וחדשניות ויצירת הבנות והסכמות.  המקצוע נלמד בשפה האנגלית מאחר ובעידן הגלובלי בו אנו חיים משתמשים בשפה בתחום עסקים, המדע והדיפלומטיה. זוהי גם שפה בינלאומית המציעה נגישות להבנת תרבויות שונות משלנו.

למי מיועד מקצוע בחירה זה?

המקצוע מיועד לתלמידים הלומדים ונבחנים באנגלית במסגרת הלימודים הרגילים ברמת 5 יחל. מקצוע בחירה זה עומד ונלמד בפני עצמו בנוסף ללימודי האנגלית הרגילים.

איך לומדים ?

ההוראה אינה מסורתית הלמידה הינה פעילה התנסותית וחווייתית באמצעות סדנאות, משחקי תפקידים, הדמיות, דיונים, עבודה בקבוצות, טיפוח עבודת צוות, מרצים אורחים, שיתופי פעולה עם בתי ספר אחרים בארץ ובעולם.

השיעורים יאופיינו בבניית חשיבה ביקורתית, טיפוח יצירתיות ופיתוח מיומנויות תקשורת חברתיות. אלה הם נכסים מהם יפיקו התלמידים תועלת בעתיד,

בשוק העבודה ובחייהם האישיים.
